Sixteen-year-old Claire is unable to face her fears about a recurrence of her leukemia, her eating disorder, her need to fit in with the popular crowd on Hackett Island, and her mother's alcoholism until the enigmatic Lani Garver helps her get control of her life at the risk of his own. The close-knit residents of Hackett Island have never seen anyone quite like Lani Garver. Everything about this new kid is a mystery: Where does Lani come from? How old is Lani? And most disturbing of all, is Lani a boy or a girl? Popular Claire McKenzie isn't up to tormenting Lani with the rest of the high school elite. Instead, she decides to befriend the intriguing outcast. But within days of Lani's arrival, tragedy strikes, and Claire is left questioning herself, her friendships, and, most interesting of all, the possibility that angels may exist on earth.

From Berkeley County:
Religion is all inclusive of men's ideology of God, or whether they believe in a god. The separation of church and state is to disallow any government to establish a "national" religion. To represent the separation of church and state in any other light, is to misrepresent the truth and the facts.
From Ranson:
There is plenty of time before the election for the Teapublicans to change their flavor of the week. The GOP base flip-flops even more than the clowns in their clown car.
Macy's: 150 Years | Prom and Homecoming Dress
Www.operaphila.org – on Saturday, October 30, 2010, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, brought together more than 650 choristers from 28 participating organizations to carry out one of the “Acts of Culture” at Macy Knight Foundation Center City Philadelphia. Accompanied by the Wanamaker Organ – the world’s largest pipe organ – OCP Choir and the many community singers infiltrated the store as shoppers, and burst into a pop-up version of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus “Messiah” at 12 hours, to the delight of surprised shoppers. This event is one of the 1000 “Acts of Culture” to be funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation over the next three years. The initiative carries the classical art of the concert halls and opera houses and in our communities to enrich our daily lives. Nice Cheap Reception Dresses ... - Homecoming Dresses for Juniors
Friday 22nd October 2010
I bought this dress last summer. As in summer 2009. It’s a gorgeous dress, really pretty damn cheap and yet i never had the occassion to wear it.
I think it wasn’t quite the occassion on Friday night. I went to a wedding reception, but it’s a lovely dress and felt like dressing up. Just to make me feel good. Selfish?
Day 103/365 – The Emperor’s New Clothes The title of today’s entry is utterly tongue-in-cheek, btw. I can barely keep myself in line, heaven forbid I was ever actually put in charge of anything. Pia invited me to tag along with her tonight to the presidential inauguration cocktail reception being hosted by the South Dakota State Society and since the dress code was semi-formal and I didn’t own a suit, I went out on Saturday and bought myself one. Being a lawyer who doesn’t own a suit is a bit like being a cowboy who doesn’t own a horse, but I’m a government lawyer. That means I don’t go to court and I spend most of my workdays sitting in my office reviewing documents and drafting legal memoranda. As such, a suit is wholly unnecessary.
