"A glowing book...An enthralling journey to a gratifying end."THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEWThe Tillerman kids' mother just left them one day in a car in a mall parking lot. Their father, too, had left them a long time ago. So, as usual, it was up to thirteen-year-old Dicey, the eldest of four, to take care of everything, make all the decisions, feed them, find places to sleep. But above all, Dicey would have to make sure to avoid the authorities who would split them up and place them in foster homes. Deep down, she hoped they could find an adult they could trust, someone who would take them in and love them. But she was afraid it was too much to hope for...."Fantastic...Dicey's strength and courage carry the story."THE BALTIMORE SUN

Dancing nonstop in North Port
The North Port Bobcats lost the homecoming game 26-6 to Palm Harbor University High School Hurricanes that was played the night before on their home field.
This did not stop the students from dressing up and attending the Saturday evening dance.
Seniors Cameron Weed and Jiliane Tartaglia were crowned the Homecoming King and Queen during the halftime celebration the night before and continued their royal celebration by wearing their royal crowns to the dance.
"Every school should be able to win their homecoming game," said freshman Domonique Covel, attending her first homecoming dance. "I think we should try to find a team next year we know we can beat just for our homecoming game."
Throughout Homecoming Week, students were allowed to attend school dressed in costume depending on the day's theme. Most popular theme for juniors Karen Gil, Lisa Avery and Alexis Fogarty was Bobcat Pride day; second place was the wearing of class colors.
