Grandview Heights High School’s celebration of homecoming kicked off a day early this year with the return of a once traditional activity.
A powder puff football game was played Oct. 9 at the stadium.
“I graduated from Grandview and we had the powder puff game during our homecoming week,” said Rachel Smith, who serves as student council co-advisor with Kristi Jump.
“It was always a lot of fun,” Smith said. “I’m glad to see it back. One of the student council members suggested we bring it back because it sounded like fun.”
The powder puff event is a flag football game played by GHHS female students, with a freshmen and sophomore team competing against a squad of juniors and seniors. The teams were coached by members of the GHHS football team.
The student council has planned a variety of activities for Spirit Week, leading up to Friday’s football game.
