Full lineup of live music fills Sacramento-area clubs on Halloween weekend
Halloween falling on Monday means a long holiday weekend.
For witches. (The government has been slow to get on board).
It also means abundant live music at local bars, clubs and fairgrounds where people dressed as "Jersey Shore" cast members and Charlie Sheen can don liquid eyeliner and flaunt missing teeth.
Most ambitious of the weekend's live-music events is the three-night Hangtown Halloween Ball at El Dorado Country Fairgrounds. Headlined by "newgrass" favorites Railroad Earth, the festival offers three stages and camping opportunities.
It also offers "people's last chance to dance under the stars" before colder weather hits, said festival organizer Ryan Kronenberg.
Tonight and Saturday, live music runs until 2 a.m., followed by a "silent disco," during which a DJ will send signals through wireless headphones, until 5 a.m.
Railroad Earth plays all three nights. Tonight, the band will perform the score to "Nosferatu" as the 1922 silent film is projected nearby.
