'Boo cruise' on tap for Ford City

FORD CITY — Halloween is coming to Ford City this Saturday — in a big way. Phantoms and witches will take to the cornstalk-lined streets to show off their spruced up cars and bring chills to passers-by.
Two months ago, the Renaissance Community Partnership began planning a car show and Halloween event, said event coordinator Paul Klukan. The goal was to bring people into the shopping district and encourage community members to work together on a neighborhood celebration.
The event, called "Boo Cruise," is much more than a car cruise. Contests, entertainment and traditional Halloween activities are on tap for participants of all ages.
"Hopefully, this is the start of something good," said Marcia Orton of Marcia's Garden. Orton plans to stay open throughout the day and into the evening. Her shop will sell warm apple juice and pass the proceeds on to the Partnership.
Orton appreciates the hard work the group has put into the event and said she is grateful for the opportunity to attract new customers. Like many Ford City businesses, she will participate in the Boo Cruise decorating contest.
