CHINCOTEAGUE --Mayor Jack Tarr will host the first ever Mayor's Ball at the Chincoteague Community Center on Nov. 19.
The event aims to raise awareness of the current issues of the management of the National Wildlife Refuge and raise money toward maintaining the existing parking lots on Assateague.
"The beach and it's parking are on the minds of this whole community" said Mayor Tarr.
"My wife Sherry and I have been talking about this idea of a Mayor's Ball for quite some time and with the issues we are having with the parking situation over at the beach, this seemed like the perfect time to bring the community together in a social setting to raise some money, enjoy each other's company and have an atmosphere of a formal evening that will linger on people's minds for a long time."
The dinner will be catered by Bill's of Chincoteague, music will be provided by Bigger Dreams from Virginia Beach and there will also be a silent auction.
